Yamaha A1 Baby Grand Piano

The Yamaha A1 is a 4’11” Japanese-built baby grand designed to deliver the touch, responsiveness, and tonal character of a grand piano in a compact footprint. Its size makes it particularly well suited to homes and smaller rooms where a larger grand may be impractical, while still providing the playing experience and visual presence of a traditional grand.

The A1’s compact scale is carefully designed to provide a balanced tonal response across the keyboard, with a smooth transition through the bass and middle registers. Its controlled projection can also be an advantage in residential settings, allowing for expressive playing without the volume of a larger concert-style instrument.

This 1994 Yamaha A1, finished in high polish black, is an excellent choice for a pianist who wants to move beyond an upright without taking on the size of a larger grand. It offers a thoughtful balance of space efficiency, Yamaha craftsmanship, expressive control, and classic grand-piano design—making it a versatile choice for both serious players and those looking to add a beautiful acoustic piano to their home.

For over a century, Yamaha has blended a tradition of Japanese craftsmanship with innovations in modern materials and sound to create pianos of exceptional tone and breathtaking beauty. Its instruments are placed in concert halls, conservatories, recording studios, hotels, cruise ships and residences the world over.
